Midi Aerial Photography was instructed by Building Surveyor, R Pickering Ltd to carry out a detailed aerial roof survey of Ghyll Head Outdoor Education Centre, Windermere for their client, Manchester City Council. The roof was a complicated mix of pitched, hip and flat roofs with a number of chimney stacks with other masts, aerials etc so particular care had to be taken when flying the drone. With dual controllers, the client could also see a live drone’s eye view and direct when required. The Centre is located on the shores of Lake Windermere where the RAF carry out low flying exercises. Prior permission had to be obtained from the RAF to carry out the drone survey.
